1. Developing region

Košice is the most dynamically developing city in Slovakia. With a significantly growing IT sector and creative industries, the city is the strategic, economic and cultural centre of the beautiful region of eastern Slovakia and serves as an entry to natural, historical and cultural sights, many of which are listed as UNESCO.

2. Incentives and marketing support

We support new airlines in several ways. An attractive incentive scheme and marketing support for a transition period of three years is available. To newcomers, we provide further support in PR, marketing and promotions. In addition, we – Kosice International Airport – are the only provider of both handling and fueling services at the airport. This helps a lot to make negotiations very smooth.

3. Legacy carriers

More than 20 years of Austrian Airlines operations confirm the good quality of service we deliver to airlines. LOT Polish Airlines has been operating from Warsaw to Košice with breaks since 2006, as well as Eurowings which provides a connection to Düsseldorf.

4. Low-cost carriers

In September 2013 Wizz Air started to fly to Kosice from London Luton. Since then it has transported more than 1 250 000 passengers on its Kosice routes. 25 min. turnaround time for an A320? A piece of cake. Ryanair opened its first route in 2020. Currently, it provides connections to London Stansted, Dublin, Liverpool, Vienna, Warsaw and Prague.

5. Charter carriers

Within the short summer charter season (mid June – mid September) we handle more than 150 000 passengers in cooperation with several charter carriers. We do everything we can in order to meet the needs of our airline partners. Flexibility is our second name.

GROWING BUSINESS DESTINATION

For 10 years in a row, Slovakia was the best country for doing business in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

With a very competitive labor cost and skilled labor force, it is highly attractive to foreign investors. In eastern Slovakia, the economy is driven by 3 pillars:

  • U.S. Steel Košice with 10,000 employees
  • Automotive cluster with 15,000 employees - several international automotive suppliers located in industrial parks in the region (Magna International, SWEP, Faurecia, Howe, U-Shin)
  • IT Valley with 30,000 employees - established in 2007 with currently 56 members (Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia, FPT, GlobalLogic, IBM)
